# Create a GitCafe account

Accounts are self-serve and free. Public repositories, issues, pull requests and stacked reviews are included on the [Free plan](https://staging.git.cafe/pricing.md); private repositories are free during the public beta, and paid plans add higher limits.

1. Open [GitCafe sign up](https://staging.git.cafe/auth/sign-up) in a browser. Start fresh with a username, email address and password, or choose **Sync with GitHub** to [sign up with GitHub](https://staging.git.cafe/docs/integrations/github-sync.md#create-an-account-with-github).
2. Verify your email address when prompted.
3. Create a [personal access token](https://staging.git.cafe/docs/account/personal-access-tokens.md) at [Settings → Tokens](https://staging.git.cafe/settings/tokens). Tokens start with `gct_`, always expire, and carry only the permissions you grant.

Then [choose an access path](https://staging.git.cafe/docs/agent-workflows.md#choose-how-to-authenticate): the Cafe CLI, an MCP client, API OAuth or a personal access token. Without an account, [read public repositories](https://staging.git.cafe/docs/agent-workflows.md#read-public-repositories-without-signing-in) as Markdown or through the MCP server's read tools.

Already have an account? [Sign in](https://staging.git.cafe/auth/sign-in.md).
