# Your public profile

Your profile at `/<handle>` shows your avatar, display name, bio and, when set,
your company, location and website, followed by your pinned and public
repositories. Anyone can view it without signing in. Organizations have
profiles at `/<handle>` too.

## Edit your profile

Open **Settings → Profile** to edit your display name, bio (up to 500
characters), company, location and website (a full `http` or `https` URL).
Clearing a field removes it from your profile.

To change your avatar, upload a PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP or AVIF image of up to
1 MiB and 4096 pixels per side. It is cropped to a square; animated images use
their first frame. Removing the avatar shows your initials instead.

## Pin repositories

Pinned repositories appear first on your profile, in the order you choose, up
to six. Only public repositories are shown to visitors.

Pins are managed with the CLI. Sign in with `cafe auth login` and, on the
consent page, select **Also allow editing my public profile and pinned
repositories**. Then:

```sh
cafe profile pin owner/first owner/second
cafe profile pins
```

`cafe profile pin` with a new list replaces the old one; with no repositories
it clears your pins.

## Edit your profile from the CLI

With the same consent:

```sh
cafe profile edit --bio "Building tools" --website https://example.com
```

Only the fields you pass change; an empty string clears a field.
